Bundling products is the ability for the Airline to package OfferItems of different types in a way that cannot be deconstructed in its original composition. Offers with flight services can be combined with other ancillaries as part of the “bundle”, meaning those ancillaries cannot be removed from the Offer (i.e. they are not optional). Optional ancillaries are typically offered through ServiceListRQ/RS or as optional OfferItems within an Offer. However, in a bundle, the OfferItems included in the package are flagged as being mandatory through the following element:
Flight services in an Offer would almost always need to be flagged as mandatory.
The total price at the Offer level reflects the sum of all mandatory OfferItems within the Offer. In a sense, this constitutes the “bundle”. An Offer with a bundled set of mandatory OfferItems could also be extended with optional ancillary OfferItems, though these would no longer be be considered part of the “bundle”, and they could just as well be presented through the A-La-Carte Offer structure or ancillary-specific messages like ServiceListRQ/RS, SeatAvailabilityRQ/RS or as part of up-selling through OfferPriceRQ/RS.
